We have just returned from an amazing holiday at Domes of Elounda. We are a family of four with our two children 7,3. We stayed in a 2 Bedroom Luxury Residence with Private Pool and it was fantastic! Huge indoor space with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large open plan living room with kitchen. The outdoor space and pool were stunning, perfect for our kids. The view look straight out to sea too.

We had villa 701 which was directly next to the main swimming pool, so we had the best of both worlds. The pool is huge and has a second heated pool for smaller children. Our kids really enjoyed the family facilities. It was great that our son could escape the sun and head to the Kids room and play the Xbox with his friends whenever he liked!

The Haute Living package allows you to visit the Haute Lounge as often as you wish. Here you can have drinks, snacks, canapes etc. This was very family friendly too.

We could dine at all of the a la carte restaurants at no extra charge. All were great as you can pick what you like from the menu. I'd like to give a special mention to Stefanos and his team at the Blend Restaurant. They were amazing and work so hard.

We have never visited a resort where our kids had so much freedom in a completely safe environment. We had such an amazing holiday and hope to be back next year.

Whilst the venue is not cheap, it is certainly the case that you get what you pay for and overall, our experience was Domes was sublime in every respect. The most striking aspect of our family visit is that at no time did the report every feel over crowded, quite remarkable as we were there for the last two weeks of August.

The quality of the environment, pools, accommodation, food was par excellence and the service by the team was outstanding. A special mention to Sophia in the Domes Villas concierge who was utterly exemplary, Alexis and his colleagues at the family pool all went above and beyond to make our stay a dream.

The only criticism is my fitness mad husband thought that the gym facility was a little too small and needed more equipment and better cooling; in the afternoons it become a little over crowded.

Otherwise, Domes was so good we'll probably be returning next year!

We had a great time at the Domes of Elounda. The resort lived up to its family-friendly rating and the staff were extremely warm and professional. The resort was stunning - we loved our villa, and enjoyed both buffet and restaurant options. Unusually, the parents were able to relax just as much as the children. Many thanks.

Our family (our children are aged 13 and 9) loved this holiday. The hotel is really classy: the view of Spinalonga from our balcony was spectacular. (When we go again I will make sure to ask for another room with a view.) The pools were clean and spacious. Dinner at the buffet was perfectly pleasant (not gourmet but nice). The beach is pebbly but the sea is clean and the little beach restaurant became a lunch favourite. I have been recommending it to all our friends.

We returned to this hotel after a 4 year break, & again had a very enjoyable

experience, although it was by no means flawless.

We had an excellent online package which included a suite with a huge balcony & hot tub, half - board, plus extras like spa vouchers, cocktails & a wine tasting. The check-in process was welcoming & efficient; details completed over a glass of bubbly. The suite (102) was very close to reception, bar & main restaurant so meant we didn't have a steep climb up the hill or need to use the buggy service. The suite included a big sitting room, bedroom, bathroom & dressing room, all nicely but not luxuriously, furnished. Sleep quality was great, (unlike the last visit when we'd had a really hard bed.) The only complaint was that the shower tray in the bathroom wasn't big enough & there was no screen so water invariably went all over the floor, no matter how careful we were.

Breakfast was a buffet, with a good choice of hot & cold food. There was a huge proportion of young families with pre-school children but they were generally seated in one area to try & minimise the noise. Evening buffets were less successful; unless you wanted to eat early, the food suffered in quality & availability; everything was also cleared away ridiculously soon so there was little chance of eating anything decent much after 9.30pm. We asked if we could swap dinner for lunch on half-board; they gave us a voucher to do it on one occasion but this wasn't then accepted in the restaurant! The beachside restaurant generally had the better food not only at lunch but in the evening, also with a la carte on occasion. It wasn't however, open every night. The other dining option was to take a buggy (or a very long uphill walk) to the new villa & pool complex over the hill. The restaurant there wouldn't have looked out of place in London; unfortunately the quality of the food was somewhat hit & miss. the real revelation of the holiday however, was the quality & variety of the local & mainland wines. George, the sommelier, was extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic & helpful.

Twice a week there was also the option of fine dining by the original pool, with a menu devised by a Michelin-starred chef (unsurprisingly not included half-board.) The food we ate there was by far the best, with prices to match. If you got bored with hotel catering however, the little village of Plaka with its choice of fish restaurants is within walking distance, or try Elounda, a short drive away. A word of warning - if you have a hire car be prepared for some serious manoeuvring as the car park is way too small for all those wanting to use it.

Other facilities remain very good; a choice of 2 big pools, smaller plunge pool & the beach, plus the spa. The staff throughout, are terrific - charming & eager to assist. Special mentions to the concierge desk, Alexandros the jolly waiter, & Eleni who after a couple of days began anticipating our needs at breakfast. The beach staff are also a lot more attentive than they were previously.

The Domes is just about big enough to accommodate the family market & adult couples, however you're probably better off up the road at their adult -only hotel if you want a completely kid-free environment.

I would still recommend Domes for the accommodation, stunning location, excellent staff & general value. It could however, be even better if they improved the quality of the dining options, particularly in the evenings, & abandon the down-market buffet concept.

We stayed in the first weeks of the season and the hotel was clearly not ready, On arrival late afternoon we were kept waiting over 2 hours for the room to be ready. Then we found we had no hot water. then the electricity in the room went off , it was one thing after another.

The dining room was not ready for the number of guests and couldn't cope causing over an hour delay at dinner. The waiting staff were pleasant and helpful but the management had no clue and were more of an interference than a help, even though there seemed to be far too many managers than required.

The room we were allocated was amazing with sea view, huge balcony with whirlpool, directly opposite the reception area. The staff were friendly and attentive especially the staff on the beach who fetched sunbeds and provided buckets of ice to keep our water cool which was very much needed as it was extremely hot. The food was varied and plentiful and had a theme most evenings. There was not much to do of an evening so you could walk to Plaka, a twenty minute walk which is a small fishing village and ideal to catch a ride with a fishing boat to Spinalonga Island, or catch a taxi for around 7 euros to Agios Nikolaos where there are numerous bars and shops. The week we spent at The Domes was exactly what we had hoped for which was a relaxing holiday in a stunning location.

This hotel was beautiful. The room had the wow factor when you walked in with views out to spinalonga island. We arrived late into the evening so had missed dinner, but some platters of sandwiches and crisps had been left in the room which was just great.

We travelled as a family of four and there was plenty of space with a separate bedroom for us from the kids. The bathroom was large and spotlessly clean - couldn't fault it.

Staff were very helpful and cheerful on the most part, service in the main restaurant was very efficient and organised. However the service at the poolside restaurant was slow and chaotic - the food once it arrived was good though. The hotel could make things easier for guests staying on a half board basis to have lunch instead of dinner. The rules were not clear and it caused problems when trying to order and some staff did not seem to understand.

We found the teenage room to be a good idea - our kids really enjoyed having the odd hour playing on the xbox or playstation, plus it gave us an hour of peace to read a book now and then! The pool was nice and clean and plenty of furniture laid out.

The hotel is set into a very steep hill, so wouldn't be ideal if you are not very mobile, but there were guys in golf buggies driving around to give you a lift. I saw it as a plus point as all the walking burnt some of the food off!

A stunning hotel and we would definitely go back again!
